Launching Concepts into Scalable Ocean Impact SeaAhead and the New England Aquarium are pleased to welcome the first 6 startups into BlueSwell Cohort 1. BlueSwell was formed to support the creation and growth of startups with scalable solutions that enhance ocean health, sustainable ocean industry, and global resilience. BlueSwell focuses on bridging the gaps between innovators, ocean experts, industries and the venture community. We support founders as they bring their innovations out of the lab, enabling the path toward commercialization.
Applications for Cohort 2 will open in Spring 2021.
Selection Criteria : During the selection process, a team of experts will seek to identify Founders that display the hallmarks of a good early-stage opportunity that will have the potential both for impact and commercial scale: -Environmental & Social Impact The innovation will either improve ocean conservation or address global sustainability and human development through the ocean -Novelty A new idea and new organization with limited prior investment -Commercial Scalability Market opportunity identified, with the potential for developing a profitable, scalable business -Feasibility The proposed solution addresses the problem & has proof points for its scientific/technical basis -Team Founder(s) that have the ability to execute their plan and have started to gather resources, partners and/or advisors -Strategy Achievable near-term milestones to set a successful commercial pathway -Community Value Ability of the BlueSwell Program partners & our networks to contribute to the success of the new entity -Commitment Ability and desire to locate in the New England region, where priority will be given to applicants already present there.
